Captain Owen – Sending You Birthday Wishes

Today’s handmade card has been created for the new challenge at I Love Promarkers Blog Challenge #405 that starts today.
I have used a digi image from Paper Nest Dolls called Captain Owen

The theme for this challenge is Anything Goes with the option of a sentiment, but you must use either promarkers, flexmarkers, aquamarkers or trias on your work.

Handmade card using a digi image from Paper nest Dolls called Captain Owen

Here is a tutorial on how I created this card.

You will need :

2 X 8″ By 8″ White Cards
Paper Nest Dolls called Captain Owen
Promarkers
The Paper Boutique Ocean Breeze – 8″ by 8″ Paper Kit
The Paper Boutique Ocean Breeze – Coloured Card Collection 
The Paper Boutique Ocean Breeze – Embellishment Pad
Wet Glue / Double Sided Tape
Foam Pads

Instructions:

Print off the Captain Owen digi image, choose two papers, two coloured cards and two sentiments from the embellishment pad.

Fold the front of both 8″ by 8″ white cards in half to make a z fold shape.
Cut 4 cms off one of the white cards and put the rest to one side to use on another project.

Layer one:
Cut a square from the first coloured card measuring 20 cms by 20 cms.
Cut a square from the first paper measuring 19.5 cms by 19.5 cms.
Matt and layer together and attach to the inside of the card base.

Layer two:
Cut a piece from the second coloured card measuring 20 cms by 9.5 cms.
Cut a piece from the second paper measuring 19.5 cms by 9 cms.
Matt and layer together and attach to the front of the card base.

Layer three:
Cut a piece from the first coloured card measuring 3.5 cms by 20 cms.
Then three pieces measuring 3.5 cms by 9.5 cms.
Attach to the 4 cm piece of white card, added two of the smaller sizes on the front and one on the inside.

Layer four:
Attach the 4 cm white card across the center of the card base.
The longest part is attached to the front fold and the shortest part to the inside of the card base.

Layer five:
From the embellishment pad cut out a large whale image from one of the toppers.
Then cut out two smaller whale images from the paper.
Attach these to the card base on the 4 cms strip.

Layer six:
Colour in the digi image Captain Owen using promarkers.

Boat: Saddle brown, raw sienna, oatmeal, burnt sienna, chestnut.
Flag: Burgundy, crimson, cardinal red,
Skin: Dusky rose, satin.
Hair: Cool grey 5, cool grey 4.
Clothes: Midnight blue, french navy, true blue.
Dog: Mustard, sunflower, black, pastel pink, lipstick red.
Telescope: Cool grey 5, cool grey 4, coll grey 3, arctic blue
Water: China blue, duck egg, cool aqua.

Next cut around the digi image, leaving a small white border.
Then attach to the card base slightly over lapping the front fold and 4 cm strip using foam pads.

Layer seven:
To finish attach one sentiment to the inside of the card base and one to the front.
