Happy Birthday – Especially For You

0 4 Comments

Today I am sharing a happy birthday three cube pop up card.
This card folds flat to fit into an envelope.

To decorate my card I have used a paper collection from Creative Crafting World called It’s A Dog’s Life

Here is a tutorial on how I created this card.

You will need :

A4 White Card
The Paper Boutique It’s A Dog’s Life – Paper Kit ( Including Toppers)
The Paper Boutique It’s A Dog’s Life – Coloured Card
The Paper Boutique It’s A Dog’s Life – Embellishment Pad
The Paper Boutique It’s A Dog’s Life – Doggie Treats Beyond Border Die Collection
The Paper Boutique Cutting Dies Essential Nesting Dies Volume 1
White Card
Glue / Double Sided Tape

Instructions:

Choose two coloured cards, two papers, one circle topper and one sentiment.

Card Base:

Cut a piece from A4 card measuring 14 cms by 29 cms.

Cut two pieces from A4 card measuring 7 cms by 29 cms.

Score and fold each piece at 7 cms, 14 cms, 21 cms and 28 cms. Leaving a 1 cm edge.

Next place the decorative border die to the centre of both.

Attach each piece to form three cubes.

When attaching together make sure that the larger cube is turned to have a fold at the front.
This will then let the card fold flat for posting.

If you are adding decorations to the front fold of the card you will need two strips of card.
One measuring 2 cms by 7 cms and one measuring 1.5 cms by 7 cms.
Score and fold at 1.5 cms, 2.5 cms, 4.5 cms and 5.5 cms to get this shape.

Layer one:
Cut two pieces from the first coloured card measuring 13.5 cms by 6.5 cms.
Cut one piece from the first backing paper measuring 13 cms by 6 cms.
Cut one piece from white card measuring 13 cms by 6.5 cms.
Matt and layer together and attach to the back of the larger cube.

Layer two:
Cut two pieces from the first coloured card measuring 13.5 cms by 6.5 cms.
Cut two pieces from the first backing paper measuring 13 cms by 6 cms.
Matt and layer together and attach to the inside of the larger cube at the back. This is the area that is seen from the front.

Layer three:
Cut two squares from the first coloured card measuring 6.5 cms by 6.5 cms.
Cut two squares from the first paper measuring 6 cms by 6 cms.
Matt and layer together and attach to the larger cube card at the front.

Layer four:
Cut six squares from the second coloured card measuring 6.5 cms by 6.5 cms.
Cut six squares from the second decorative paper measuring 6 cms by 6 cms.
Matt and layer together and attach four to the inside of the smaller cubes..
Then attach one matt on the outside of the cubes, leaving one side not covered as this side attaches to the larger cube.
Next attach the smaller cubes to the larger cube, making sure that the bottom of the cubes are level.

Next attach the happy birthday sentiment to the bottom strip.

I would put this card in a 7” by 7” envelope as the topper is slightly above the larger cube.

If you used a smaller topper you would be able to use a 6” by 6” envelope.
