Steampunk 40th Birthday Card

0 8 Comments

My brother ask me to make he’s girlfriend a 40th birthday card, so I looked at my discs and chose SteamPunk by Debbi Moore.

Materials used:

8″ by 8″ Scallop edged white card
SteamPunk by Debbie Moore cd rom
Gold mirri card
Gold ribbon
Tattered lace Steampunk bird
Cog dies
Foam pads
Glue

Instructions:

Choose an image from the dvd rom (the image that has been used was a complete set that included an image, sentiment and borders) and one matching paper.

Cut out all the elements on the image page.

Score the front of the card at 10 cms and fold over, this will form a z fold card.

Cut two pieces of gold mirri card approx 19 cms by 19 cms and 19 cms by 9 cms.

Cut two pieces of the chosen paper approx 18.5 cms by 18.5 cms and 18.5 cms by 8.5 cms .

Matt and layer these cut pieces together : 18.5 cms by 18.5 cms  on to the 19 cms by 19 cms gold mirri card and 18.5 cms by 8.5 cms on to the 18.5 cms by 9 cms gold mirri card. This will give a small gold border around the paper.

Attach the larger matt and layer to the inside of the card.

With the smaller matt and layer attach a piece of gold ribbon the left hand edge (as in picture) next glue a border on top of the ribbon leaving a small edge either side.

Using foam pads attach one of the smaller elements in the centre of this giving the card dimension.

Next attach this to the front fold of the card along with the topper.

Using foam pads attached the sentiment to the inside of the card (please see picture)

To finish the card off I cut a tattered lace bird out of gold mirri card and a few different sized cogs.

The gold bird has been attached to the front fold and the gold cogs have gone on the inside of the card but because of the fold of the card you can see these perfectly.

I know you said you’d linked this one up to CD Sundays by mistake, but after all there IS a bird on it so I reckon you could just about get away with the theme! It’s a beautiful card, steampunk at its most gorgeous.
